Here at ITP we started cleaning homes 20 years ago with hot water and bleach. Wow, has our industry changed. We now only use bleach to kill mold in bathrooms. Bleach is a toxic chemical and can stay in your home’s air for hours after it has been used. In the winter, with our homes all closed up tight, using too much bleach or toxic cleaners means poor indoor air quality, and that’s not good for all involved, children, pets, and adults. Now we rely on plant surfactants, vinegar, and hydrogen peroxide to give us cleaning clout. We use products that no or very little VOCs (volatile organic compounds) so your home’s air quality will not be affected by our cleaning products. We use 98% green products. However, we keep testing and researching new products that become available so we can reach 100%. Sustainability is just as important as being green. We choose to do business with companies that market, produce, and ship their products wisely. We choose products and tools that are American made as often as we can.
The following is a detailed list of cleaners and equipment we use, their main ingredients, and why we use them.
-The glass cleaner, all purpose, and tub and tile cleaner we use is from a company called “Focus”. They are based in New York City. All of the main ingredients are plant based or based on hydrogen peroxide. The cleaners are “Green Seal” certified. They also reduce their effect on the environment by only shipping their cleaners in bulk and concentrated. They are also made in the USA and distributed locally. http://www.focus-acs.com
-The wood floor cleaner we use was developed In Sweden and is produced here in the USA. “Bona” is not a 100% green cleaner however their cleaner does have a neutral PH so it does not leave any residue on your floors or reduce your homes air quality. “Bona” as a company also has made strides in their industry with respects of being mindful of how their products affect the people who use them and the environment. They are constantly making changes to become more sustainable as a company all while they grow to world wide recognition of making the best wood floor products. http://www.bona.com/en-US/
-The upright vacuums that are used to clean the carpets and rugs of our client’s homes are the best in the nation by far. The uprights we use are only 8 lbs (which our employees love!) and they suck like no other! The bags we use with them filter 99.8% of allergens out of the air, which means we are not blowing dirty air all over your home as we clean. And guess what? We change the vacuum bags twice and often as our competitors. A vacuum is only as good as its clean bag. We also conduct routine maintenance on all our machines, to prevent a malfunctioning machine cleaning in your home or office. http://www.riccar.com
-We also use canister vacuums to clean all hard flooring. Sweeping is so last century! We have been using the canister vacuums with the double brush attachment (no roller so floors don’t get scratched) to clean hard flooring before it was “cool”. When Sandra Perreault started the company, our method for cleaning tile, linoleum, vinyl, and wood floors is what set us apart from the competition! We have always used Sanitaire’s Professional grade canister vacuum. It has the best suction, best attachments for getting all those hard to reach areas and has a HEPA filter to help keep the air in your home clean.  http://www.sanitairevac.com/professional/index.html
